Signal is a personal project I developed from my passion for surfing. It was born while travelling through Panama during the rainy season.
I was surfing almost everyday and often felt ill after a session, many surfer friends had to visit the hospital regularly because of ear and eye infections. The health issues we were experiencing were caused by the heavy rainfalls, which brought huge amounts of polluted water from the land to the coast. I felt motivated to seek a potential solution. That is when the idea for SIGNAL - a surfing wax that changes colour by reacting with pollutants in the water - came to mind. An idea I have been testing with a team of local biologists and that I am hoping to develop in the future.
